 VEG BOX SCHEME
Dear all,
How many of you look at the origin of potatoes in the supermarkets and wince at the prospect of buying something that has travelled all the way from Israel. Apples from Spain, Onions from Portugal, French beans from Sweden! Don't ignore the carbon foot print you are leaving on this planet for future generations!
Have you heard of the VEG BOX SCHEME. Local farmers near you are producing fresh, organic produce, delivering it direct to your door and leaving next to no carbon foot print behind! Just think pototes that haven't earnt more airmiles than you.
I use The Hillside Nursery at Hintlesham in Suffolk, their scheme delivers to me every Friday. They supply three sizes of veg and fruit boxes/bags depending on your household. As I'm on my own I recieve a small box of mixed veg (Pototes, onions, mushrooms, carrots and at least three other veg depending on the season anything from courgettes, tomatoes, cabbage, pumpkin, squash, Beetroot, lettice, the list is endless) This lasts me all week and sometimes beyond. I also have a small fruit bag delivered, Apples and Bananas along with at least two further fruits depending on the time of year (Oranges, kiwi, pears, plumbs, Grapefruit etc) enough, once again, to see me through the week. All that for Ј10.30 delivered Free, to the door, Fresh! They'll leave it somewhere safe for you if you're at work.
If you're interested in joining a Veg Box Scheme search the web for schemes in your area, the Soil Association Website is a good place to start. If you're in the Suffolk/Ipswich area why not ring Hillside Nursery for a chat (01473 652682) and find out what they can supply you fresh and organic.
Reduce your carbon footprint today, leave a better planet behind you for others to enjoy and at the same time improve your health and wellbeing with a better diet - it's win win folks!
Enjoy!
